I studied Civil Engineering at Manchester University, followed by
working in London and travelling extensively around the world.
Having re-trained as an English teacher, I then worked in the
Basque Country for 3 years I started working at NSE in 1996, first
as a teacher, and then moved into Sales and Marketing 2 years

I worked in a Customer Service role for a High Street bank for
many years before joining the school as Registrar in 2007. My job
is very varied; I deal with all administrative matters and I also
have a lot of contact with students. I love meeting and working
with people of all ages from around the world.

I began working at the school as the Accommodation Officer in
2010. I have lived in Cambridge all of my life, but have travelled
extensively. I love the outdoors, particularly the mountains, where
I spent several winters working and skiing in various resorts
around Europe. I am also a crew member on a yacht, and have raced
at national and international events.

I began my career as a Secondary School teacher having qualified
at the universities of Bristol and Cambridge. I worked in the UK
and in Germany before settling in Cambridge. As my family grew I
taught part-time at various language schools in the city before
discovering the New School! After many years as a teacher here I
became Director of Studies in 2005.

I studied history at Reading University before doing a Masters
degree in Historiography at the LSE. I worked as a teacher in
Jiangsu Province, China and Brittany, France before returning to
Cambridge in 1990. I became the MD of the school in 1994

I became co-owner of the school with Tim in 1994, where I was
already working as a teacher. I am a fluent French speaker, I'm
married with two children, and I currently work two days a week at
the school. I enjoy playing classical music on the piano and cello,
and I also sing in the local choir.

I joined The New School of English as the Social Activities
Organiser in January 2013. I organise weekly social activities such
as sports, movies, arts, crafts, meals at local restaurants,
musicals, plus one day and weekend trips to museums and other
cities and places of interest. I am also here to help look after
your welfare and will always advise and guide you with a smile
during your stay.

I worked at an Accountancy firm in Cambridge when I first became
involved with the school in 1994, helping with their accounts. I
then became a permanent member of the school in September 2002
becoming their Accounts Manager.
Trevor Bryant - Teacher
I was born in London and have been teaching English for 20
years, including two years in Japan, and began at The New School in
2000. I teach all courses, including First Certificate, Cambridge
Advanced and Proficiency classes. I also teach courses on English
for Work and Business English classes. I have two boys, and like
cricket and playing music in my free time.
Tom Conway - Teacher
I taught in Greece for 4 years, then in Italy and Austria for
short periods. I then moved to Cambridge in 2001, and have worked
at The New School since then teaching on FCE, CAE and CPE
examination courses as well as General English courses. When I'm
not teaching I enjoy playing music and going to the cinema.
Sarah Marsden - Teacher
I have been teaching for twenty years and have worked at The New
School since 2005. I have taught General and Business English at
all levels as well as many different examination courses. I also
work as an Examiner for the Cambridge exams.
Nancy Sparks - Teacher
Before coming to The New School of English in 2006, I worked as
a language teacher in Spain, California and Maryland. I have taught
English learners at all levels as well as on many examination
courses including FCE and CAE.
Alexis Walmsley - Teacher
I have been teaching English as a foreign language for about 13
years. I have lived and worked in Cambridge as an EFL teacher for
about 7 years. Prior to this I lived and worked across England and
Clare Laidler - Teacher
I spent two and half years teaching English in Mexico from 1999,
on my return I worked in Cambridge. I have taught, been a director
of studies and a course director for young learners in the city and
now teach at The New School teaching general English, business
English and IELTS.
Tim Rogers - Teacher
I have been an English teacher in Cambridge for thirty years and
have worked at The New School since 2009. I have a great deal of
experience teaching at all levels and on many different examination
Denise Barden - Teacher
I have been a TEFL teacher for many years and have experience of
teaching students at all levels, as well as being one of the main
teachers on our English for Professional courses. I have also been
an examiner for IELTS, UCLES and Trinity College London and have
worked abroad extensively in many different countries.
Bridget Hayes - Teacher
After many years as a materials engineer, I moved into English
teaching. I take classes from elementary to advanced and have
worked at The New School since 2010 where I am one of the main
English for Professionals teachers.
