Margaret Jarvis: Director of Studies dos@newschool.co.uk

I was born and brought up in London. I studied languages and literature at university, and then worked in France and Germany (best job: courier; worst job: chambermaid). I qualified as a teacher in Cambridge and taught in a secondary school here and in Cologne. I'm married with three children. I have taught at the school for a long time, and became Director of Studies in 2005.

Trevor Bryant: Teacher

I was born in London and studied Social Sciences at London University. I have worked as a teacher for many years, including two years in Japan. I'm married with two children (both boys!) and in my spare time I like playing music and watching football - like most English men!

Sarah Marsden: Teacher

I was born in the North of England, studied French and Arabic at the University of Leeds and have been teaching Exam Courses, General and Business English for seventeen years. I live in Cambridge with my partner and our three children, who are always ready to offer lots of good advice on making lessons more interesting.

Nanci Sparks: Teacher

I'm from California and spent seven wonderful years in Spain when I was younger. I've been a language teacher for about 15 years. Outside class my time is taken up by my family (one husband and one teenage daughter) and our six well-travelled American pets (four dogs and two cats).

Geneve Bartholomew: Teacher

I was born in the West Country but grew up in Spain, and then moved to Cambridge where I studied English Language Teaching & Applied Linguistics at university. My interests include keeping fit although, unfortunately, I can't afford to practise my favourite sport: Formula One racing! So instead I enjoy the great outdoors and have explored most of the British countryside with my man Steve in our pride and joy: a classic VW campervan.

Alexis Walmsley: Teacher

Originally from Manchester, I studied in Scotland (Cultural History) and subsequently did a variety of (not so exotic) jobs. I have been teaching full-time for 11 years, half that time in France and the rest in the UK. I have lived in Cambridge for about four years and have been working at The New School since the beginning of 2007. In my free time I am interested in art and film.
